The Kanji Learner’s Course Green Book is a helpful, convenient, and inexpensive resource for practicing the writing of all 2,300 kanji in The Kodansha Kanji Learner’s Course.

While the Course avoids placing undue emphasis on memorizing how to write entire kanji — perhaps the least important skill in learning Japanese today — handwriting practice remains  essential for its multisensory reinforcement of kanji composition. Integrating hand-eye coordination with the tactile experience of each kanji’s stroke sequence, handwriting improves your ability to  recognize  each kanji, grasp intuitively how it is put together, and distinguish it from lookalikes.

This simple little workbook consists of nothing more than the 2,300 characters, their entry numbers, and the right quantity of writing spaces to get just enough practice writing each new kanji as you learn it — four large spaces followed by seven small spaces. It humbly offers you:

• Guidance for mastering proper stroke forms: Both the guide characters and the practice squares are cross-hatched to help you achieve precise form.
